The pipe-organ is a beautiful instrument with a lot of things to discover. Of course there is great organ music in all kinds of styles. But the technology that makes organs sound is also very interesting for children (and adults). And don’t forget to tell the history of the organ as part of cultural heritage.
"Orgelkids enables you to put together your own project or activity to suit your target group. Ready-made teaching programs have been developed. You can buy or rent the materials for this programs. But you can also get started with the ideas to develop your own project. I'd be happy to help you on your way!"
Lydia Vroegindeweij (founder of Orgelkids)
Orgelkids has become known worldwide thanks to the Do-Organ, a challenging box with 128 parts. Children can use it to build a real working organ in less than an hour.
The Do-Organ is not only a beautiful kit, but also a real instrument. It has two octaves and two registers and gets wind with manually operated bellows.
Orgelkids develops all kinds of teaching materials to accompany the Do-Organ, as well as for other activities around the organ. Use it as building blocks for your own project or take advantage of our complete educational projects and teachers guide.
Composers from different countries have written music especially for the Do-Organ. There are new compositions available, but also arrangements of famous music, by Bach for example. Here you can download our sheetmusic for free.
Orgelkids is not just about the Do-Organ or our own projects. We can also advise and support your team in developing your local organ project for young people. Think about organising an open day, workshops or field-trips and, of course, tips for special organ concerts for children.
Several times a year, Orgelkids organises a ‘train-the-trainers’ meeting for those who want to learn how to work with the Do-Organ themselves and get tips and ideas. As a taster, check out and first set of 9 suggestions from practice.
Orgelkids was founded by Lydia Vroegindeweij in 2009. The project has been received with great enthusiasm and is already running in 25 countries. Project leaders of Orgelkids projects collaborate and share ideas.
Do-Organ kits are built by a few organ builders, licensed by Orgelkids. You can therefore find Orgelkids projects and more than 180 Do-Organs all over the world.
